2011 Digital Calendars

Love calendars and guess I went a little crazy buying some digital ones for next year, but I have no worries as plenty of places to put them! The above is the start of the one for the scrap room, using one of my favorite photos from each month of 2010. This DIY Calendar was purchased from Oscraps.
Decided this one will go in the Kitchen - on the fridge - for a quick glance. Purchased this Create a Calendar from Jessica Sprague.
And another one for the kitchen, this 12x12 Create a Calendar from Jessica Sprague's shop. Used digital elements from Shimelle for our Anniversary on the 1st & added photos for Birthday's, still a few to add - busy Birthday month! The papers & embellies are some I picked up from this blog hop giving away a pretty cool Holiday Sampler Digi Kit!

And of course, thinking these would be fun gifts for family using pictures of the kids.

We have a pretty quiet weekend, just a Birthday Party for one of the kids to attend. Since it's in a city 40 minutes away - while he parties I'm making plans to shop Michael's, World Market & Penzey's!

Hybrid Halloween

Downloaded this Halloween Banner from Jessica Sprague Friday Project Kit $1 sale. Printed the digital images onto Matte paper & Best Photo option, then added some mini star bling I found at Michaels for $1, glitter, Stickles & ribbons, attached to black cardstock then edged in glitter. I punched a hole at the center of each top and tied the black ribbon to each, then added a jump ring to string the orange ribbon through and connect the letters together.
I love Halloween & all the decorations. I envy the yards all done up with tombstones, webbed trees & glowing lights and dream of doing the same. Next year I always seem to say - need to change that!

How about you - do you do it up big for the kids (or yourself)? ;)

Camp Scrap: Artistic Ideas 2

Was busy spending time on both Camp Scrap & @ Home class this weekend while the kids visited Grandma. Our challenge for Week 2 was to use paint splatter for an artsy look. It was a little bit scary for me & I almost passed on doing it but then decided to go for just doing splatter on the background Kraft, I liked it and began adding embellishments following May's sketch & then got the idea to add everything but the pictures and give the splatter another go - I'm glad I did!

I pulled out some old Art Warehouse designed chipboard & epoxy and added a few of their digital elements. I also made my own little embellishments by printing out the fish onto white cardstock, punching circles out and covering with some glossy accents:

Added some Stickles to one of these journaling cards:

And printed one of these game cards out onto photo paper:

Before I knew it I had a hybrid page - BIG surprise to me! lol

New Toy (Kinda)

 

Got this Wacom Graphire tablet years ago - only problem I really wasn't sure what to do with it. Enter Jessica Sprague, with a coupon & a class and I decided to give it a go again.

Our first task was to just get used to writing with the pen, it takes a bit of adjustment and some hand-eye coordination so for sure the more you use it the better you will get. Here are my little digi embellies:

With the pen we did the circles for the scallops - they are supposed to look hand drawn & mine sure do! And we added the bracket/text & then scribbled.

Next our first assignment. A digi page and not being a digital scrapper, this took me a really long time but I learned a lot of cool new things in PSE - SO worth it!

Still need some work with my handwriting, found zooming in REALLY helps. For this page we again did the scallops with some shadowing and using a different technique with the pen, added the title - how cool that was & journaling and did the little loopy dotted route line - more fun!

Instead of vanilla I added raspberry flavoring - they tasted a bit like jelly donuts. Yum!

Adventures In Scrapbooking

Created this layout last week from a sketch from May's class "Adventures In Scrapbooking: Kits" at BPS. While the economy has forced me to cut back on receiving kits for now, the years of being in kit clubs has me well stocked! I started with a Jenni Bowlin kit from October 2008 then only ended up using the cardstock for this layout pulling in the patten paper & embellies.

As you can see, I like to use my own handwriting on layouts yet I still have a big love of fonts so when I came across this site through Twitter, to create my own handwriting, I was super excited.  While it took me a couple of tries to get each letter to my liking, it couldn't have been easier - all you need is a printer & a scanner! I love it!

And although I'm mainly a paper scrapper, I see myself adventuring into digital & turning to hybrid. Lovin' to incorporate overlays, journaling templates and printable embellishments into my layouts and this site I found - also through Twitter, "Extraordinary Moments From An Ordinary Life" is fast becoming a favorite to check each week with the rockin' digital freebies! I'm planning on using some, if not all of the "Tree Date Set" for my December Daily/Journal Your Christmas hybrid album this year.
