Spring Training: Take 3

Though I only completed a few of the prompts while Spring Training was live, I still plan on attacking a few others. This one was for Day 12's challenge to paper piece an accent or main visual on a layout. I used a PageMaps sketch from April 2010 and created the Cupcake out of scraps, adding some bling & Stickles. Since this was a page about Iron Cupcake in general I used photos from a few different events. Still plan on scrapping the events by theme - especially the one I baked & competed in!

Sadly this is the only layout I completed over the weekend - with all the fun going on online for NSD I'm a bit disappointed with myself. I know I am a slow scrapper but had high hopes to just go crazy. (Also next year I need to make plans for the family to go visit a park or something - reality got in the way. A lot!)

My main focus was on BPC and Shimelle sites. I actually started a page for one of the challenges but didn't complete it in time, the ONE I did finish was for the first prompt at Big Picture, to use text on a project or layout: Made this magnet out of a gift card tin top, had the DH prime it for me but time was running out to post - the plan is to paint it yellow. Used a photo I had taken early Friday morning, added my One Little Word & some punched butterflies sprayed with Glimmer Mist and painted with Stickles.

This week the plan is to focus on prompts over at Shimelle's, time to post until the 15th!

Spring Training: Take 2

Back to Spring Training at Ella Publishing and my layout for Day 9, to make a page inspired by a fellow scrapbooker. Lifted this layout from Ali Edwards as it incorporated many things on my list of what I love - clean, stitching and balance.

Since it also said to focus on what we could do right now, instead of dragging out the sewing machine, looking for foot pedal I hid from the dogs (as well as myself apparently) I used a little spoked wheel I ran through pink ink to give the appearance of stitching: And of course had to add some dimension and bling:
For the journaling, I wrote her a little note and up the side I used some lyrics from "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars:

"When I see your face, there's not a thing that I would change, cuz you're amazing just the way you are."

She loves it.

Mini Polaroid Magnets

Being highly addicted to Pinterest, I finally did more than just pin - I created! I found these Mini Polaroid Magnets on Ambrosia Girl and knew I wanted to make some, when BPC added a free download Polaroid template to Inside Access I knew it was time. (If you aren't a member just sign up for free!)

I layered & glued 3 sheets of chipboard (the thinner stuff) and then used my rotary blade to cut. I edged with White Sharpie Poster Paint and added a magnet to the back.

This project was so fun. I made a ton for my Monthly Make. Keeping this Spring set in the scraproom and kids, dogs & cat are on the fridge. They are adorable and make me smile!

Spring Training

Tried to play catch up on Sunday with the Spring Training at Ella Publishing. I didn't do as well as hoped, only completely 2 out of 6 in time for posting.  Still want to get to them, especially the photo challenges but dependent on the Sun and well, Wisconsin just isn't getting it IS Spring.

The first challenge was to take a look at our "Signature Style". I created Wordle Art with the words I had highlighted in the quiz along with a few of my own thrown in. And for Day 2, the challenge was to create a layout with single sentence journaling. I flipped a sketch from Page Maps, April 2011 and tried to use some bright colors because all that food is SO brown! Wow. Good thing it's a one day a year thing - and that the 4 of us share! Except the Wisconsin State Fair Cream Puffs. Hands off!

To keep up with being eligible to post I'm just moving on to this week - time to play with some Glimmer Mist!

Just Curious: Days 16-21

The last of the Just Curious cards and 5 things we hope to accomplish in our life, as well as list 5 things we never want to do. I'll tell you one was to never jump off of or out of anything high. Ever.

Speaking of fears, for Day 17 it was to do something we aren't comfortable with, been meaning to go to an actual Zumba class so choose that as my goal to overcome, but I haven't conquered the fear of going alone - only the fear of making a fool out of myself, so hoping to get to one soon.

Another challenging  prompt was to write a letter to ourselves now from oursleves of the future. Once I got going it was very therapeutic and a bit of a pep talk - I highly recommended this exercise!On Day 19 we took a look at our "Creative DNA". The where, when & under what conditions we feel most productive:And then the bigger picture, "The Story of My Life". Went a little on the light side with this:Lastly, a list of things we want to learn more about, with a pledge to tackle one each week: Been working on antiques with Jenni Bowlin's RRR class and looking at Ebay for items I like (to get a sense of value) and this week hope to learn more in PSE. I think Gardening & Landscaping may be good fit for next week. Little by little I'm working at it.
