Since I do so well at my classes <heavy sarcasm> - I decided to jump into another class I seen at my friend April's blog. The class, Cooking Up a Memory is over at Renee Pearson's and is about collecting family recipes & food photography. Looks like a cool class and I'm excited to get started!
Hope you had a more creatively productive weekend! :)
Can't go through Fall without Caramel Apples! Found a few recipes & many topping ideas here.
Or Pumpkins and of course, have to have a Fall Cupcake - so dying to make these Brown Butter Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting I came across at Baked Perfection.
And last but not least, Apple Pie. I love a rustic freeform Apple Pie.
What is your favorite treat for Fall?
Last night was the *PINK* Iron Cupcake challenge with 22 bakers showing their support in the fight to Find a Cure for Breast Cancer. These beauties were a White Cake infused with Hibiscus Tea & Citrus Zest topped with Lemon Buttercream.
There was a simple yet so cute Pink & White Cupcake: And with these "Over the Pink Moon" Cupcakes: Some pretty Strawberry Cupcakes:And a little different take on Strawberry, Tequila Rose Cupcakes:And Pomegrante Margaritas: And must have Girls Night In with these Champagne Cupcakes: When Girls meet, must have Chocolate, like these Dark Chocolate Cherry Cupcakes:
And the taster's Winner for Taste were these "Root For The Cause" Pink Lady Apple Cupcakes topped with Brown Sugar Cinnamon Cream Cheese Icing: Pink Lemonade wasn't forgotten and this was tasters choice Display winner: Many different takes and flavors on the yummy drink:Jumping in this for the first time I was happy to squeak on to the Top Board at #5 for Display with my Pinkalicious Party theme: I made Pink Velvet Cucpakes topped with White Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting & sprinkled with Pink Edible Glitter & White Pearls: The "Girly" front of my toppers were created for me by Laura Edwards Design, she rocks!
The charity this month was the Susan G. Komen foundation a big reason I jumped into the Challenge this month:It was a lot different being on the Baker's side of the table, pretty hectic with I think up to 300 people coming through but fun all the same!
I feel like I can exhale again now that all the planning and baking...and baking are done, lol and hope to catch up on blogs today!
Thanks for stopping by!
The *PINK* Iron Cupcake Challenge is tonight! So my weekend was spent creating items for display and today baking...and baking! We are required to bring at least 12 dozen minis.
Will post pics of all the displays tomorrow! :)
Hope you had a great weekend!
I got my pictures for my layouts from stock photos from here.
And lastly, Team-Up Thursday with our prompt being "small" this week:Akesa's is on the top - a cool close-up of a bottle cap and all I kept thinking was "small as a button" so there ya go on that. :)
Time to put LSNED aside for a few days and get the last touches of my Iron Cupcake Display ready for Monday, including nailing down which flavor cupcake I'm going with.
Speaking of flavors of cupcakes - what is your favorite?
I love a nice Vanilla Bean Cupcake with Vanilla Bean Buttercream lately. Yummy!
And now I will end the teasing of my oh so happy Sunday. Growing up we lived in a subdivision behind the High School, this meant that when class got out at 2:20 I could hightail it and be home by 2:30 to catch the last half hour of General Hospital and watch a new character - "Blackie Parrish":
I wish I had a better picture of him, but he is constantly moving on the drums, to the guitar - it was hard to get a nice shot of him - especially from my vantage point. But I could see him nice & up close in my zoom and whoa, he is as every bit as beautiful in person as he is on TV. Always with a smile on his face - he is loving every minute of playing with The Beach Boys. It was his last night as he had to head to the set of Glee - I'm SO excited he will be on this season!
And last one for the long weekend, I used a picture I had taken earlier in the Summer - something we love to do around here and it seemed perfect for our prompt which was to focus on something we may have re-learned:
